Ruby Red Apples
Red Delicious apples were first created in 1880, emerging from an Iowa orchard as a round blushed yellow fruit. By the early to mid 1900’s they were the most popular apple in the United States, and by 1980, 100 years after their discovery, Red Delicious apples represented 75% of the apples produced in Washington, a state renowned for their apple harvest. As Red Delicious apples grew in popularity, patented variations began to spring up all over the nation. As a result, Red Delicious apple quality began to fall, and consumers started to reject the apple. It was no longer America’s Apple. Perhaps you’ve been wronged by Red Delicious apples. They were mushy or flavorless, and you haven’t been back since. We know it’s hard to trust again. But we invite you to try with our Ruby Red apples, they are all the great things you remember about Red Delicious apples, but without the grainy texture, lackluster flavor, and heartbreak.
