Gala Apples

Gala Apples

Galas have gained popularity among consumers in the past 15 years and are ideal for snacking. The Gala variety was introduced to the market in 1965, as a cross of Cox’s orange pippin and Golden Delicious and was developed by New Zealand plant breeders. The Gala, being one of the relatively recent introductions, sometimes is called a "gourmet apple”. Their development was specifically aimed at the segment of the public that has been demanding better flavor in store-bought apples.

Gala Apples Availability

Though the Gala harvest begins in mid-July, they store well with proper cold storage techniques, making them available year-round.

Fuji Apples Taste & Ripeness

Pinkish-orange stripes over a yellow background are the signature of this crisp, aromatically sweet, snappy apple. Apples are harvested at their peak, and then put into cold storage to maintain that perfect level of ripeness. When you receive delicious Gala apples from The Fruit Company, they'll be ready to eat, no waiting required.
